Cassida 5520 UV/MG – Professional High-Speed Counter with Dual Detection

The Cassida 5520 UV/MG is an advanced currency counting machine specifically engineered to deliver fast, accurate, and secure cash handling for demanding professional environments. Combining high-speed performance with UV and Magnetic (MG) counterfeit detection, the 5520 is a top-tier choice for banks, busy retail stores, and any operation requiring efficient, trustworthy cash processing in a compact frame.

High-Speed Performance & ValuCount™ Precision

The Cassida 5520 maximizes productivity by processing bills at an impressive speed of up to 1,300 notes per minute. This high throughput dramatically reduces manual labor while offering smarter features for financial management:

  • Exclusive ValuCount™ Technology: Beyond simple piece counting, the 5520 features Cassida’s ValuCount™ system. By selecting the denomination, the machine calculates the total dollar value of the stack, providing professional-level results at a fraction of the cost of a full discriminator.
  • Dual UV & MG Counterfeit Defense: Protect your financial assets with integrated Ultraviolet (UV) and Magnetic (MG) sensors. This dual system verifies security threads and magnetic ink patterns, providing a reliable defense against fraudulent bills.
  • Intelligent Error Detection: The machine is programmed to recognize and alert the operator to common counting errors, including half, double, and chained notes, ensuring a perfect count every time.
  • Streamlined Batching & Adding: Use the Batch function to prepare specific amounts for cash register floats or bank straps, and the Add function to keep a cumulative total across multiple stacks.

Durable Design for High-Traffic Workflows

The 5520 is built for longevity and fits seamlessly into any professional workspace:

  • Space-Saving Compact Footprint: Measuring just 10.9" × 9.9" × 6.2", this machine is perfect for tight teller windows, small retail back-offices, and crowded POS stations.
  • User-Friendly Interface: An intuitive control panel and high-visibility display ensure that staff can begin processing cash with minimal training.
  • Rugged Cassida Quality: Engineered with heavy-duty components and a durable motor, the 5520 is designed to withstand the rigors of continuous daily use in high-volume environments.
  • Quiet and Efficient: Designed to operate quietly, the 5520 maintains a professional atmosphere in front-facing retail or office environments.

1. Does a regular bill counter tell me the total dollar value?

No. A standard bill counter counts the number of pieces (quantity), not the denomination. For example, if you put in ten $5 bills and ten $20 bills, the machine will tell you there are "20 bills." You must pre-sort your money by denomination to calculate the total value. (If you need the machine to automatically calculate value for mixed stacks, check out our Currency Discriminators.)

2. How does the machine detect fake money?
Standard counters use two primary methods:

UV (Ultraviolet): It checks the paper’s reaction to UV light. Real US currency paper does not glow, but many counterfeit papers do.
MG (Magnetic): It scans for the magnetic ink used in the printing of authentic currency.

3. Can I count items other than currency?s.

Many of our regular bill counters can count other paper items of similar size, such as vouchers, tickets, or coupons, provided they fall within the machine's thickness and size specification

4. What is the "Batch" function used for?

The Batch function is a favorite for retail managers. It allows you to preset a number (like 25, 50, or 100). The machine will count exactly that many bills and then pause, allowing you to remove the stack and put a rubber band or paper strap around it for a bank deposit.

5. Why is my counter "double-feeding" or "jamming"?

This usually happens for one of three reasons:

Thickness Adjustment: There is a small tension screw on the back. If your bills are very new (thin) or very old (thick), you may need to adjust it slightly.
Dirty Sensors: Dust from paper currency can coat the sensors. A quick blast of compressed air usually fixes this.
Poor Loading: Ensure the bills are squared up and placed flat into the hopper for the smoothest feed.
